jonathan 0
i got two little beddy x at 20 inch and they are ace at ferreting the bitch lamps well on small fields and they both have had foxes but some lad said to me the other day that they are crap lurchers and that his would get a load more rabbits and you no what it would on the lamp because its a whippet grey hound and thats all it does But my two are not lamp dogs but the bitch will get a couple say 3 in 5 runs on small fields lol the point of this is that the only 20 inch and there for ferreting witch they are as good as any other lurcher cross they mark and there stady and the catch the bolts and hold rabbits in the net they are all so hard as nails because there 3/4 bedlington and they will try hit any think the dog has all so bolted foxes from ground the bitch has took a hare as well and she allways trys a 100 per cent but she will never be as good on the lamp as a lamp dog but it doesnt mean she is a crap dog sorry it just piss me off when people are like that and they havnt a clue that why i dont like bull x coz most people have them for show coz there big and they lie about how good they are and before you start one of my mate got a bull cross and it is ace on foxes kills them in seconds Quote Link to post
pointer28 1
Your "mates" dog might be great for what he wants but I bet it wouldn't be half as good at the job that you want as the dogs you already have. Seriously though, some people are just wind up merchants and they're not worth listening to. Only one answer for them Someone on here has a signature that says: Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter. Truer words were never said. Quote Link to post
Morris 0
I've been told before my dogs are no good, one fella said he would never try one off my dogs because it didn't have any marks on its nose, not the point its never been stupid enough to be bitten. I admit there not the best dogs in the world but im happy with them the way they are, if your happy with them and they do your job with 110% effort. I don't think you need anyones remarks. wouldn't worry about it. Quote Link to post
tote 854
If you are happy with your dogs ferret that's all that matters There will always be someone out there having a pop Try to ignore them Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
A mans dog is there to suit HIM and keep HIM happy and NO ONE else Quote Link to post
thurso jack 3
if there was a perfect lurcher cross for every form of lurcher work, there wouldnt be the need for any other kind, fact is there isnt, hence the many differing crosses, some crosses excell at one discipline others at a different one. challenge your mate to some ferreting and see how he does? zap 4
they are all so hard as nails because there 3/4 bedlington this is a quote from the start of the thread ,is the statement true or do you lot not think the real reason they are as hard like quoted is because the dogs have heart nothing to do with being beddy or bull or collie ect its a fact you get jackers in every x but heart is something that seperates a goodun from a bad un that little bit fire in there belly [ i'm not knocking what anyone says just trying to get views without arguement] edited to quickly clear something up when i say jackers i dont just mean fox dogs i also mean the dog that when chasing it bunny towards a hawthorn hedge ect dont pull of it a mile back but gives that bit more well you know what i'm getting at the dog that gives that bit extra and dont give up as easy Quote Link to post
Mars 42
The thing that pisses me of is the people that think a certain cross is only good for a certain type of quarry and to work in a certain way, I thought a lurcher was supposed to be for working all sorts of quarry in a varity of ways, or is their a class system amongst dogs as well Yis Mars. heart of wales 19
That type of crap use to make me smile when said about my beddie whippet x scooby, how many times somebody pissed up at a show would say to f****g small for a lurcher. Before telling them to f***K off.I use to think of the times that dog not only amazed me but, real dog people as well with his speed anticipation courage and killing ability, put him in a big field they would not have time to make the hedge, dont lets get on to a big dogs better than a little dog because I have kept both and there are good and bad in both ,butthe main thing is you know what your dog is capable of dont let some know it all asshole tell you any different, keep enjoying them while you got them.
