davyt63 1,845
hi i have been bored and decided to weigh some H&N FTT and was surprised that not one was 14.64 i know this is only a average and was only hoping to find three different weights, from experience of other brands not six! this was from a tin and a half, majority were 15.1gr and second was 15.0 and a close third was 14.8/14.7 check out the empty tin,at the back and the amount of lead swarf at the bottom. pianoman 3,587
I've been pulling my hair out over the inconsistently diverse spreads of weight and physical sizes in one tinful of FTT Davy. H&N FTT .22 were my HW80's favourite pellet for years and my HW77 absolutely loves em. Then they started to have quality issues which have gotten worse over the last few years. FTTs in one tin will vary from being too tight to so loose that will fall out of the breech. The only way top get a consistent performance from them is to wash, lube and weigh every one of them. I'm not in the least surprised at your findings buddy! Simon Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Those 15.3s will fall slightly low of your normal poi im sure at 40 to 45 yards if you zero your rifle with the 14.7s. Thats bad quality control on the behalf of the makers of H and N. Si. 1 Quote Link to post
porkybella 284
Si what pellets would you suggest to use in a bsa ultra single shot? .22. Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Lads, I've had to stop using H&N FTT for now in the 95 as they really were a mixed tin. I'm current trying other brands, AA field were very accurate and consistent and will be trying the falcon accuracy plus over the next few weeks when I can get out. It's annoyed me because H&N FTT are good shaped solid pellets but let down by the mixed weights and sizes. Phil Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
C'mon lads your way behind on this one I started a thread on the HW Owners Club Forum about FTT becoming incredibly inconsistant since the new label change nearly two years ago. Many hsve suggested new machines may be to blame.. I haven't used them since and they were my rifle's favorite pellet. http://weihrauchowners.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6777 Give it another 12 months and you'll all be using the Li's lol! Mawders 595
I will try a tin of lis and have been meaning to get some for ages! I'll push these falcons first then get some lis and see if there is any difference. You got any scales mate so you could give us done weights from a handful of them? Quote Link to post

Thats bad quality control on the behalf of the makers of H and N. Si. This is just why I cannot risk my HW77 as a competition rifle Si and have to go to .177 with an HW97KT (Davy's chrono revealed she is running hot by the way!). The one true pellet she loves is just not good enough anymore. For want of good weather here I want to be out testing with the Daystate Li's Elliott kindly sent me. I'm praying they will be perfect for my 77. Could be Elliott you ran afoul of these not-so-hot FTTs before some of the rest of us did and did something positive about it! Simon Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
No Phil I haven't and I didn't have any for the FTT but I could tell there was something amiss. You'll struggle to find any as consistant as the JSB variety. The FAP you have should be excellent but beware, consistancy (at least over the chrono) doesn't always result in better downrange performance Edited December 7, 2012 by Elliott Quote Link to post
Daz 7 563
Not just H & N Lads, Alot of the Li's have recently not been up to standard also some are to tight in the Breech some are just right, But luckily i have come across 3 boxes of the Old Crossman Premiers that the li's were based off. Same weight at 7.9 gr but better Quality, Shame their not made any more But i did pick up 3 boxes with a content of 1250 per box, so should last a while in the MK 2 .177 cal. atvb Daz 7. That's right Daz, they are a replica but I have found them to be more accurate than my .22 cardboard box of Crossman Premiers! Strange.. Quote Link to post
Daz 7 563
Will try .22 Li's in the New HW 77 K then bud but in the Rapid MK 2 it loved Li's until recently getting the odd flier more than i used to, So tried an old tin and come to the conclusion it must have been a Duff batch, But it loves the Prems and will use them up until quality improves in the .177 Li's. atvb Daz7 Quote Link to post
