Rabbit's in the Barley

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I was out Shooting a few rabbits first light and shot 17 along this field/river edge which has been taken a bit of a battering, so we decided we'd drop by with the pack to give those hiding in the barley a run.

That looks bloody good fun

I love it, so much anticipation as you see one of the dogs working a rabbit through the crop the rest of the pack trying to judge where it will break cover then given it all in short dash to snatch it up before it makes its escape hole.

I am so lucky to have that ground, I moved up here (Angus) living in a big motorhome after meeting my O/h up. I asked the farmer if he minded me parking up in his field to which he was'nt too keen on due to other people would then copy and thus ending up with loads of folk parking in his field however he said he owned the carpark at beach and said he had no problem with me parking there, so anyway I thanked him and offer my services if ever he need help on the farm.

A week or so later he came to my van asking if could work at his livery yard as his groom had slipped and badly sprained her wrist. So was me I worked there leading in and out, mucking out etc for couple of month by which point he offered me a cottage and permission to hunt his land. For my simple offer of help he completely set me up with everything I needed. I this day and age it seems a rare thing to find folk that will do so much to help a complete stranger ( especially one that looks as dodgy as I do lol.
