Keeping warm this winter

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what lamp/bulb combo you go for in you kennel?

My young beddy x whippet is in the house at the mo but 2 of my staffords are out in the day and have for the first time, lost weight so I'm looking for a lamp to put in the kennel, it's only daytime so won't be on all night!

Thanks

Thing is though charts,,,, you put a heat lamp on, and watch them stretch out, then ask yourself wich is better the curled up dog,,, or the stretched out one ...

good kennel with good bedding will keep them warm enough

Lol at paulus....... Surly you can see the reason she ain't laid out ??

I went and bought 2 bales of straw last week, filled 7 boxes and all you can see is their nose poking through, you have to call them to get em out for food, lol.they're in good condition, holding plenty of weight.Couldnt have heat lamps for all of them, would cost a fortune

Anyone of you lads own a Stafford, thick as shite!! Pull all their bedding outside, blankets, quilts, shredded paper or old clothes!

TBH it's the first time they have dropped weight in the winter from being outside, only outside in the day but I'd like to fit a lamp in there now!

Thanks

Not knocking heat lamps, but I don't think they are neccassary; make sure they are properly fed, dry the dogs off, see to there feet after a day or night out, and give them dry, draught free, well bedded quarters, and the will be OK !!

With the effort we put into our dogs training feeding fitness .... We strive for our dogs to be at the top of there game ... So although ok might work for some people ... That extra bit off effort goes a long way. Each to there own really. My dogs just seem to recover that bit quicker with that extra bit of comfort and seem to hold there condition abit better. Atb

"Seem to hold their condition better"; better than what ? Would my dogs be in better condition if I had heat lamps ? I don't think so !

Cheers.
