Im one of these people who bend over backwards to help people out and I think sometimes people take advantage of that. I *had* a mate once who was always on the phone to me about his computers, so id go around and fix them - never charged him, id service his car, I helped him move house twice, I helped his parents move house, he called me up once broken down in middle of nowhere and I went & got him. I gave him my old hifi system for free & my old computer for free. I remember going to Leeds once and picking up a truck which I drove all the way back for him. He needed someone to help him with some work for a few weeks, so I dropped everything and helped him out. He`d need a lift with something so he`d give me a bell and id pop over straight away and help him. He lost his job one year and I paid him £100 a day in cash to do some work for me for 3 months to help him out. I have lost count of the amount of stuff i did for him. I never asked for anything back. Then one day I needed someone to give me a hand with boarding my loft out. It would literally only take a couple of hours - it was more needing a hand getting the wood up my loft than anything else - its easier with 2 people than 1. So I ask him if he can give me a hand and he says yes but he`d have to charge me. WTF!!!! I literally couldnt believe it. I thought he was having a laugh, but he was serious. So, I told him to forget about it and I havent spoke to him since. Good riddance to him. I'd have gotten a hand job first then told him to f**k off!!!
