Rake aboot 4,935
Hey ho I have a Hancock 1/2 cross.. Mines is odd in that he is lurcher to lurcher I collected him and saw a few things, whilst down there. His yard is clean, as is his kennels. The bitches may not get out much but a lot of the dogs have free run round the farm, as mine did. I took mine at 5 months old cause he was kept back for breeding, but they decided not to keep him as he was black,, the blacks are cheaper cuase everybody wants merle. I worried about taking an older, unproved pup,, but I have been at it for decades, and know that you get out what you put in,, so now he works hard and catches well,, I`m seriously chuffed with him. In fact, more than one has alreadt asked to breed from him and he`s only 19 months, !! must be impressing somebody eh?? Fact is,, you get one,, then put the effort in,, you`ll get the returns,, just like any other pup.. I sometimes think that folk assume they can get a worker to worker cross, then fukin ignore it for 12 months and turn out an amazing hare dog !!,, ffs, you get out what you put in!! It worked for me,, and I`m mega happy with mine!,,,,,,,,,,again! lol.. first dog I collected from Hancock was 20 yrs ago ! 2 Quote Link to post

look up 406
never had one myself ,but the thing is,if you want a 3/4 ,1/2 ,5/8 collie cross thats what you get .people say get worker to worker its ok if you no the person and seen the dogs run.but of a stranger unless you seen both parents run they might be a heap, jacker .you see people on here moaning there dog has not made the size ,build ,length ect,.because people are not honest anymore ,like bullx /saluki x theres so many big names out there which people can easly use to sell pups.and then wonder why your dogs not doing what you want it to, cos it was ROBS] old mutt from round the corner .the thing is he dont say the parents work do 5/5 ,20 rabbits a night ,so people no the scour with that ,they are buying from none working parent ,but whos to say they cant work,.and id rather see 33 pups look like them for sale, than 9 running around in there own shit ,never been wormed ect .atb 1 Quote Link to post

storm323 191
What happens when you put the work in the hard time then it has trouble with its feet/wrists/leg/bone problems then your left with a well trained lurcher that can't get out more than once a blue moon. What kind of bag have you seen a Hancock cross take just out of interest to see how much you have or do work them? Dogs from any litter can suffer problems, I've had a few Hancock dogs and never had any problems, sounds like you had bad luck with your dog but how many of the litter were afflicted with this problem? Out of interest was trhe dog with the bad wrists a 3/4? I've seen and done a few decent bags with an hancock dog, had 58 between two dogs one night and ran out of rabbits to run that night. Not an huge bag but impressive for where we were and the ground we ran on. Quote Link to post
storm323 191
The one with bad feet and wrists was a 3/4 yes I know what you mean with any dog suffer problems but is that not more of reason to breed from tested perents?thats a good bag of rabbits and a well tested night I've struggle to get her fit as she's always getting injured I think for any newbie starting the game johnny boy should try and drift them away from the Hancock scene ?hes a puppy farmer and isn't doing anything for the working lurcher Quote Link to post

I would personally try and steer any newbie/inexperienced person away from owning a collie/grey(not just hancock bred), they ain't for everybody, they can be tempremental and push the boundries. Because of Hancock a lot of inexperienced lads/lasses get a collie x from him and when they don't have the experience to bring them on tidy its put down to the breeder imo. 2 Quote Link to post
