Big conifer hedge

After a previous visit got called off last minute, I'd been itching to get back onto this place. My mate shoots large parts of it, but can't shoot too close to the heart of the permission as it is used for horse livery and it's a condition of him being there.

With all the heavy rain the buries where the most activity is were underwater due to a pond topping out so we had to move onto another bit which is a 150yard conifer hedge on top of an earth embankment. The earth embankment is artificially created, and is mostly topsoil so it's heaven for the rabbits. We netted the whole length, getting nearly sixty nets down. We backed this up with the longnets down the open side of the hedge in case any slipped a net.

Because the embankment is such easy digging the rabbits have created a huge underground warren, the owner keeps raking more topsoil over to make it look tidy. This means that ferrets tend to get the runaround and it took nearly an hour for the first bolt even though we were working our best ferrets.

Working from one end to the other we managed to bolt and net 8, dug to two stop ended. My hobs both have a very distinctive back and forth movement when on a stopped bunny so we were on them pretty quick. The second dig dropped us on a big buck with a nearly bald arse, and one of my hobs wearing rabbit fur gloves. :D

No 'action' pics because I leave the phone off when the pugs are down because it can interfere with the locator.

They were hard won bunnies. Started at 08.30 and pulled the last net up as it was going dark. Number 10 was a dig, even though my hob came up at the sound of digging I wanted double figures so carried on with the spade!
