How Tall Will this Whippet Be???

Recommended Posts

There is a bit of show blood in there on the bottom of the dams side. The sire is all race dog and with a bit of non-ped. in there from a ways back. If it's coming from anywhere I would think the sire has a bit of GH if I were to guess. Here is a pickture of him:

I almost forgot to take a picture of him and snapped this one on the way out of the man's driveway. It's not the greatest picture but it's what I have.

I'll be going after some fox in addition to small game with this guy so I'm hoping mine is on the bigger end. I'll be awfully happy if mine is bigger than 22" tts but the mother was pretty small. I got the tallest pup that also has the most bone so I'm hoping he'll at least get over 20. The sire's is the biggest one I've heard of. I was looking over some of the open coursing results (hares) from the last couple of years (in the S.W. USA) and I was very suprised to find that in the all time top ten were 7 salukis and 3 whippets. That kind of threw me off balance. I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that even one whippet would make that list. Not suprisingly, all three are closely related. I do not know what the average size of that line is but I'm going to find out. I have one of those on order!

What's the Non-Ped in the Sire ? And what's the Sires racing name ?

Cheers.

Chart,

It's in the US and the dog has never raced but is out of a line that is famous for it. I'm just getting into this game and folks are pretty touchy here in the US. I think it's mostly because of the higher percentage of women in this sport here than men. I don't understand that but that's how it is here. I'll send you a PM with the info. I don't want to make it any more difficult than it's been to get my first dogs.

Ahh, OK !! In the 'states they breed Whippets a little taller than here in the UK. I think the upper standard for dogs is 22", and 23" isn't uncommon !

Cheers.
