I enquired about this guy before, I heard about these dogs years ago. Was fascinated that he had success with non saluki stuff on lincoln! Then judging from posts, it seems he's introduced saluki to his strain. So I think my initial query still stands, is there a non saluki strain exist that can compete on the fens? And I mean compete, a dog that is regular taking 3/4 on the big land?

Hi folks. I've owned two of Stats lurchers and IMO they're right out of the top drawer. My old bitch regularly took hares on the lincolnshire and cambridgeshire fens depite the fact that there was little if any Saluki blood in the breeding. She was also equelly at home lamping or accomponing me on my ferreting trips. In later life she took the occasional fox, pre ban of course. She is now enjoying her well earned retirement being treated like a baby at my mothers.

I now have a new pup from Stat and she is coming on a treat.

Here are a few pics.

HI Bob, Firstly can I say that its the blue brindle bitch that has none or at least very little Saluki in her breeding and although she could and would take Hares regularly she was never going to be a top match dog. I think we all know that the Saluki x is king when it comes to matching or single handed compatition. All the best Hare killers pre ban' were bred that way and certainly all the top dogs I saw run at the EOE were all Saluki bred.

As good a Hare dogs as Stats non-Saluki lurchers were there were Saluki x that were better, not hugely so, I have to add but, there was a few that would always win through in the single handed stakes. I don't think Stat would disagree with me on that and I guess thats why he add Saluki in to his dogs.

As all round pot fillers I don't think you can touch um'. I always found my girl to be honest, hard working, loyal and intelligent and I hope my new one terns out the way she did.

Nice bitch, what's his breeding program? Looks whippet, and bedy? And what type of lung did the bitch posess?

Well mate if you were to ask Stat he'd probably tell you they were Jack russel crossed with a pig put back to a pit pony then crossed with a shire horse coz that his sense of homour. To be honest theres just about everything in there and they've been bred that way for ages.
