the durham digger 127
Im sure that like me a few of you lads have made some poor decissions in your lives and therfore dont expect to be granted a certificate for a weapon to use dispatching quarry. Due to a bit of a chequered past and numerous convictions relating to football violence in my younger and more stupid days the police knocked my application back several times. But when my mate did away with his shotguns it forced my hand into finding an alternative. Thank god for the internet... i found a company online selling selling humane captive bolt stunner, this particular stunner is for private emergency slaughter, private slaughter for your own consumption and the dispatch of fox and mink (not that i intend holding a mink to give it the bolt) because it is not manufactured for industrial slaughter the user is exempt from requiring a slaughtermans licence. And because it doesnt discharge a live projectile and uses a captive bolt the user does not require either a shotgun or firearms certificate. I wouldnt say they arnt cheap at around 200 quid but they keep your terrierwork legal. I read a thread about humane killers and that got me thinking about the lads that dont have a gun and can therfore only work there dogs when a friend with a gun is present..... i hope this helped lads, have a good winter and get some muck on the bank. 4 Quote Link to post
events co-ordinator 353
This is not legal in Scotland in Scotland it must be a firearm or shotgun or bird of prey (good luck with that one) as it comes under the protection of wild mammals act (Scotland) 2002. I have not read the hunting act (England and Wales recently so will not comment on the legallity or otherwise south of the border if in doubt pm Barrie. Quote Link to post

the durham digger 127
Iv just spoke to clive rees regaurding this matter and he confirmed that as a method of dispatch its probarbly the most humane and the cps wouldnt want to waste time or money challenging it. He also informed me that the cps have informed the police they wont be prosecuting terriermen netting foxes on land they have permission..... so make sure you have your nets lads!! Quote Link to post
