NELS0N 457
Your bags look great nelson. Im not knocking them For me, a respirator havasack will do fine. I just put the nets in mine and put it in my rucksack with the rest of my gear. The amount of kit you can potentially carry for a ferreting trip is endless. I try to keep it down with minimum kit and generally only take what will fit in my daysack. The havasack holds around 35 nets and the rest go in the car incase. (Not about numbers for us, few holes missed is sport for the dogs). I have a T bar that is going to get cut down to fit in the bag. Locator and a flask- all goes in the bag so its good that there is room left over once the nets go in. Ferret box on, daysack on top, spade in right hand and dog i left (if need be). I like all my kit to be light and easy to carry. It all fits together nicely in one bag and a ferret box. Some of the best days ive had have been with 1 ferret, a pocket of nets and a dog. Never mind all this kit Although i wont be going without a spade in future. Got caught out a while back and dug the ferret out with a fencepost! Good bag and has its uses to some. Just not for me mate I have something that i made just last week for the minimal kit approach to a days sport. I shall pop up a photo for you tomorrow BPP. I must admit i've had some great days with a handful of nets, a ferret + dog or gun. Nice improvising using the fence post, ive had to dig 4 foot with bare hands on the side of a links golf club after leaving the grafter in the motor, just as i started to dig erm.....scrape the heavens opened, head down ears and eyes full of sand and arse full of water. called it a day after that. thanks for the kind words, all the best for the rest of the season. Country Joe 1,411
I know what you mean cutting down the gear, im a solo Ferreter, just me and the Whippet, and he refuses to carry my gear. My ideal kit would be my post office bag, and my purse net bag, plus two 25 yarders, and stop nets.and the ferts. and spade. Too much to carry, so I just use the purse nets. I could take more Rabbits with the long nets, but now im not interested in numbers, getting out with the Dug catching four or six is enough for me. And now im retired i can pick my days.
