heritage 202
It is disgraceful that its come to this and there are several questionable points but Unfortunately its out of our hands...it's now law in Scotland and will soon be law here so there will be only two choices, you'll have to either pay the man his money or hang up the wires......me, I'm ready., £60 in one hand & a bunch of wires in the other cause if that's what I have to do to continue snaring then so be it......Atb Quote Link to post
The one 8,529
alimac' timestamp='1354751665' post='2931365'] The one, the guy that did ours knew what he was talking about but having said that it ain't rocket science, but iv my bit of paper saying I can set a snare in a empty grass field, so im happy, lol, I still think its a joke all my wires are hanging up in the garage as they dont have a stopper fitted six inches from the end and this on top of that . All thats going to happen is the guys all legal and above board get shafted again Quote Link to post
heritage 202
You are right, it will hit those that try and do things properly the hardest.....but I'm going to do the course when it becomes a requirement.,ill get the certificate and carry on snaring....."they" wanted snaring banned, if we hang up the wires over this then they've got what they wanted in around about way...... 1 Quote Link to post
The one 8,529
But its not a requirement all over Britain , Scotlands a test case again and instead of jumping on the band wagon offering courses for guys who snares , Folk like Sacs,Basc etc should be screaming Discrimination Quote Link to post
heritage 202
I never realised it was a test case...... I just heard through the grapevine that it was going to Scotland first and it would only be a matter of time before being introduced here....I've now changed my train of thought., I'm just going to ignore the money spinning schemes and carry on regardless until such a time as it becomes law.... roebuck220 80
Did the course earlier this year, easy enough to pass. But no more snaring fence lines and stops on rabbit snares FFS. Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
All thats going tp happen now is people are going to set snares without an 'id number' because they either dont have the money to spare, refuse to pay it or refuse to conform. The ones that do put an id number on the snares will get blamed for any others in the area. Next they will put a tax on lamps and ferret boxes. Its disgusting! Quote Link to post
alimac 882
IMO the only thing out of order is having to pay for it, snaring in the eyes of anti orgs is up there with hunting with a pack of hounds, if we are seen to be making a effort to get "trained" to minimise the stress caused to animals & prevent the capture of non target species then it can surely be a good thing, let's face it if pro orgs went against the course we would probably be in a lot worse situation than we find ourselves in now.. Is it right, probably not, is it of benifit for the long term preservation of a vital part of pest control, most certainly yes. Edited December 6, 2012 by alimac 2 Quote Link to post
jamie mc 168
I think alimac has hit the nail on the head if you have to pay 60 pound to keep a form of pest control going than so be it .And just one more bit of paper for the cv and if you are on a estate they will pay the bill keeps you legal atb jamie Quote Link to post
The one 8,529
Its just another form of registering folk so big brother knows whos doing what . Its no going to Folk putting down illegal wires and the wrong prey species will still be given spreads in papers . We are far too soft in this sh*te country we take everything flung at us Quote Link to post
