Goshawker1 1
As the title says , what do you guys find the easiest and best way to trap pheasants live? I have a young GSP and wanted to hide a couple in cages in cover to hopefully help him start pointing! ATB Mark Quote Link to post

the durham digger 127
When i was keepering we used wire crates for catching up. The crates were 3ft x 3ft and 2ft high with a funnel on 2 of the sides... and like paulus says bait with wheat or maize although the birds find maize easier i find. Just be careful whos pheasants your catching up! Quote Link to post

Born Hunter 17,763
Chicken wire cage with simple bob holes. Then just loose feed a decent feed mix around the trap and plenty in near the bob hole and you will catch shit loads in the right place. Carefull with spooking them in the traps though, if they constantly try to escape from the trap you will find them scalped badly and bashed up! Also if you are catching well the local foxes soon learn where to get an easy meal! 2 Quote Link to post
dankay123 33
for the cheapest traps to make get some card roll it into a cone. paint inside contact glue or carpet high tack glue when its nearly gone off put some sweetcorn or feed on the glue so they stick to it. tie it to a piece of string and repeat it til you have a line of about 5. bring them to your local pheasant haunt and line them out in cover away from prying eyes. stake the end with a bar or branch. throw a handful of feed around them and return in a few hours to 5 live pheasants sat there waiting with paper cones stuck to their heads. works best late afternoon. dont let keeper catch you. and they dont last long if it pisses down. seen this done as i didnt believe it would work Quote Link to post
