malc1 544
i think they will be a cross to watch out for from what ive herd about them Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,164
It's funny you mention labs, as my mate has one, and I've never seen anything hunt quite like it. I personally think there might be a bit of springer spaniel in the genes somewhere, but it hunts much steadier and dosnt overshoot and then back track like some spaniels. I think he was to breed lurchers from his bitch, I think they would be pretty special. Maybe not the imidiate first cross but its blood would definatly be in the mix somewhere. Quote Link to post

I have no idea of gundogs springers etc, but she is steady, without relying on what to be told too much but still is obedient and recall is excellent, im talking out of my arse really but id definelty have one like her for mooching around. im always telling him to put a greyhound over it, and she is fit at fook and racy as well, not like some fat ones. Tyla 3,179
I've always fancied a labx not to a greyhound but to a fast type lurcher bitch. If my 2 y/o bitch carries on well it is something i would consider in the future as i have an excellent sire in mind Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
I seen a nice Lab on a rough shoot.. From American lines.. Wall tall and racy, lovely looking dog.. Quote Link to post
Mustelid 143
Some interesting replies on this thread guys. I will say though the idea is simply to create a dog that hunts hard and has a variety of uses. If it isn't overly quick I don't care. However, I think they would be plenty quick enough and good enough for rats, rabbits, ferreting, rough shooting etc. Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,164
My only concern is would they be able to retrieve foxes. I think a dog that uses his nose like a gun dog would suprise you in how many foxes they would come across. It would be a shame if there bolting foxes on a weekly basis and not been able to retrieve them IMO. But I'm sure as in all breeds, some will be up to the job. Quote Link to post
harerunner 10
I have been out with a couple pointer/lurchers up on the hills and they put plenty in the bag although they opened up whilst running and were really boisterous and a bit ignorant to say the least but that could of been down to there upbringing Quote Link to post
