On a sour note

Lost both my pups this week due to parvo or some other viral infection, both had been jabbed on the 25 July at 6 weeks old.

Had a Lurcher bitch pup 11 month old given to me, guy told me she had been jabbed, I asked specifically because I had pups, anyway she caught a fox, only to succumb to a viral infection probably parvo 7 days later and died in the vets.

Thought I had got lucky as the pups had managed to be O'k since, one went down rapidly on Sat/Sun died in Kennel, just had a phone call from the vet, other one has to be put to sleep as she's not going to make it.

Just a little bit pissed....... and out of pocket for a couple hundred quid.

Not the lurcher's fault, just the dickhead lying b*****d that give me the dog.

Do foxes carry Parvo, is my next question....

Ive got nothing but admiration for anyone working a breed not commenly worked .

To answer your question"do foxes carry parvo",the answer is no and it most certainly came with the lurcher .Some dogs are carriers of this disease but show no signs of it until some sort of trauma happens ie the move to different surroundings.Sorry to hear abou the pups.

Was that the only border he used ? I saw some that JW bred but found the first crosses he had were short in the head throwing to the border side..

Yours have this border in them down the line I beleive, though they haven't come out short headed ? correct me if I'm wrong..

Also, my mate phoned me the other day and told me that in Sean Frains new book he states that George used the Middleton Lakeland Nailer in his breeding, is this true ? As far as I was aware we were the only ones to use this dog ?

Hi, Swansea as far as I'm aware it was the only border used and he did use it twice, not sure if JW bred any himself but he had two from this litter Sandy and ?????....GN kept the remaing two Vic and Viper

Bella who's 1/4 border does have a shorter head compared to the rest of my dogs, they have a longer length and width which I like, most probably a little shorter than what most people would prefer in a bedlington though, I've seen like many what can happen to a terrier with a weak muzzle with the top jaw hanging and it ai'nt pretty.

I believe you were the only ones to use Nailor. GN did have a litter from Merlin, I believe it was not planned but Taz wil probably know about that than me, all I can say is he would only introduce dogs into his line of 'known breeding' that he was adamant about, wether he found out what dogs were behind Nailor I don't know although I belive he did try to ask GM. A question he did once ask about Merlin was "where did she get her Fox Terrier eyes from?" I suppose only GM will know that. Saying that he was always full of praise for Merlin, she was a particular favorite of his and would be a dog that most would welcome into their kennels.

printer, having seen your excellent pics i would be very interested to know what you think of the border hybreds...compared to the lakeland hybreds...i.e. coat ..size...and working style. i have had two 3/4 breds of s.j...and still have dogs out of this line.
