If I could find one small enough I would happily take one on-last ones I saw small enough was 10/15 yr ago and belonged to a few lads from Glyn neath way-they were a liver colour and real small, caught them digging one Sunday morning when I was a green keeper-sat down with them and watched them dig a fox with a real handy bitch-their faces were a picture when I told them I don't give a f**k what you digging lads lol,saw them a few more times after that-back then I wasn't big on asking names glad in away as I got to dig the whole course for years myself with no bother.had the first and last digs to a few dogs there happy memories. If you wanted to find one you could, thats the biggest problem that the Beddy as a worker encounters, people that do not have the genuine zest to source the right types when its easier to source a 2nd or 3rd rate un,especially as they are the majority bred. For every litter of WORKING Bedlingtons bred there are countless litters that are bred to serve market forces only and they all are bred from workers?,bollox.
That doesnt go just for Bedlingtons morton other breeds are going the same way unfortunately

Ive stated before on numerous occasions that the Beddy and Border are a benchmark that other working breeds should be wary because of,the dollar chasers, ribbon hunters and ego,s are swiftly taking over the breeding and stewardship of many a recognised working type, then steering it in the opposite direction.

You could,nt be arsed to source one and now are the Beddy salvation,it does not work that way mucker,id much rather put a pup in with somebody a little more committed than gives up at the first hurdle, the Bedlington needs committed ownership and stewardship, not half hearted pish, again if you REALLY wanted one,you would allready have one.

That's the thing, the emptiest can makes the loudest noise.

You'll have to shout a bit louder and source proper digging lads to help in the working of stock. If Muhammad doesn't come to the mountain, the mountain will have to go to Muhammad

Even in the black dog scene it's hard to source the right lads, don't let it get you down, just carry on regardless, your obviously doing something right

Blacks,Black and Tans, Fell etc. have been on the slippery slope of commercialisation for less years than the Beddy and in the last decade or 3 have slipped faster from the coal face than the Beddy as with a few decades start on them, some realise that fact and act accordingly, some think it will never affect them and others check their bank balance. The Bedlington is the marker that other breeds will soon have to follow.

Some of us have had enough of trying to help others and only care about what's in our own backyard. It's not about digging lads doing their homework, it's more about you doing yours and placing pups in digging lads yards.

Good luck with that one, I can count on one hand the lads that have done right by me and the line of dogs

As a one season digger I am very lucky to have been gifted a pup and have the loan of a tested worker in my opinion not knowing much and being honest about it has helped me with this some times I think people who have their own ideas are the wrong people to place pups with as most I've found out know all there is to know! Where as a beginer relies on breeders advise and knowlage

Morton I have black dogs that know the job-I don't see where the belittling comes from?-you have a very high opinion of yourself? you seem to have a big chip on your shoulders imo-sure I could wade through the dreamers and bullshitters f**k me this site got loads and ive met more than my fair share before and after the invention of the www.same as I could go lick arse for the so called best black dogs-but I don't muff anyone's arse not to go digging f**k all -even if they got what I think I might want/need im self sufficient pal. I'm no fool and won't waste my time when I have dogs here I've bred myself for the job.I have an interest in beddys as my Oldman and uncles had them late 60s up until the 80s-I asked my Oldman about them he said you won't find a good un these days stick to your black dogs son, which my Oldman got for me as it goes ,and I still have dogs bred down from the first two, surely if you had their best interest at heart you would be finding the work for them with digging men? I find you a strange sort morton-each to their own.atb dc

anyone who thinks the bedlington was ever a breed...has been living in the romanticism's that terrier work just doesn't need....the bedlington the fell the Russell the lakey and now the patt are not and have never been breeds! there all terrier types, and Morton your sounding like you have something special when in reality you have a type you call bedlington, which is just doing what every other type with the word terrier at the end should be doing! which is going to ground and enjoy working fox! Only terrier men understand that a terrier is for work, and work to a terrier is going to ground to either evict its quarry or stay there doing a proper shift.... and making sure the jobs completed...the job of the man who works terriers correctly and for the future not the NOW is to make sure he breeds correctly puts them out to walk correctly, and sometimes that just cant be done between mates they have to go to yards were making not breaking them is there key to survival. if your as confident about them as you sound put some out to walk in decent yards...get some feed back...
