AndyKelly 251
been asked to try and calm a jill down off a lad and when i looked at the teeth the ends of the incisors look like they have been files down, not much but defiantly a couple of millimeters missing from both sides. she is a fair weight but for last years jill still on the very small side. am wondering if her aggression ( my wife can handle her fine) could be down to not eating propley as the missus gave her a bowl of wetted down biscuits and she devoured the whole bowl straight off. as i have never seen this for many years and thought it was a practice that was just about extinct it was a bit of a shock to see the poor lass like it. i gather there is no chance of the teeth re-growing so im going to continue with soft food for a couple of days and see how she goes. is there a general length that idiots snip teeth or is it a variable thing? as she was fed in a cage with other ferrets and if she has been guarding food if she cant eat it quick enough i guess that could be another reason for the show of agression as im writing this she is curled up asleep on my wifes knee like butter wouldnt melt. i hope i can sort her out and pick her up a little atb andy Quote Link to post

Ferret mad Dave 65
Now mate I've got the same with the hob I got in his teeth were blunt at the ends don't know if they there snipped or not the lad says not after a very angery chat I had with him but they seem too be getting better with time don't know if I'm right but we used too clip piglets teeth and they always grew back in time Quote Link to post
Nobby 65
I am not saying that this clipping teeth don't happen as there are some right idiots that get ferrets but some ferret have a habit when they bite at the mesh on the cage this can cause teeth to get broken or worn and people see this and think they have been clipped by someone . AndyKelly 251
thought that myself at first mate but its exactly the same at both sides looks a little too uniform to be that 1 Quote Link to post
heritage 202
Ferrets teeth will naturally wear flat over time but I've never seen it in such a young ferret..I have seen ferrets over the years that have been put through the trauma of "coping" and have seen several that have had there teeth completely removed.....to snip or file a couple of mm seems pointless and I don't think it happened in this case, natural wear & tear perhaps ? Anyhow, she's in good hands now & I'm sure a little tlc will put her back on track..........Atb Quote Link to post
