Guest Leveller
This might come as a shock to all the martyrs on here who are moaning about "the mounted lot" but I vowed never to give the paper another penny after they ran an article on an incident that I was involved in a few years back with "the mounted lot" there's no need to go into the details but we were in the wrong that's all there is to it and the CMW ran it as a news story and the article was signed off with a plea for witness's including the telephone number for Crimestoppers. So don't turn this into the old posh lot vs lurcher lot argument because that's not the case in the slightest. It's my opinion that the paper certainly isn't looking after it's own (I've always thought it was more biased to everything other than hounds) it's just completely out of touch with every aspect of the countryside and the people and activities that go on here. But it's simple for me I just don't buy it and then it doesn't influence my life I get EDRD and Hounds magazine and if either of them shaft the hunting man I'll stop my sub with them too
scothunter 12,609
agreed if you dont like the stuff being written in a particular publication, then dont buy it.you wouldnt catch wilf running down to the newsagent to get the copy of the latest morning star lol
chartpolski 23,458
Some things won't change; Lurcher men, Terrier men and Ferreters will continue to buy this rag, (and probably be the biggest section of Field Sportsmen who buy it !!); Lurcher men, Terrier men and Ferreters will continue to contribute articles to it, wether for payment or some sort of "kudos"; CMW owners and editorial staff will continue to think of, and treat Lurcher men, Terrier men and Ferreters as second class Field Sportsmen, and, in the case of this article, as violent criminals !!!! Only when we all boycott buying or contributing to CMW, will the owners realise who pays thier wages and keeps the publication afloat !! Cheers.
Paid 935
You have to wonder if the owners and staff at cmw actually hunt at all. I suspect none of them do.

Nik_B 3,790
Thats the thing, they are trying to link all hare coursing with poaching and all poaching with violent criminals Hence - all hare coursing involves violent criminals. Throw the dog men to the antis and hope they'll turn a blind eye to the rest of us...classy
whippet 99 2,613
Blimey its not that difficult is it if you like it you buy it if you dont you dont.....................what publication on any subject is going to be agreeable to everyone who reads it like anything your not going to agree with every word on country sports just because its a countrymans magazine same as you wont agree with everything on football in a football magazine you just take from it what you like and forget the rest....f**k me what do you want for a couple of quid £2 lot of money these days
Bosun11 537
I've had a few 'do's' with other members on here about the Countrymans. The rag is now so out of touch with hunting it is quite unbelivable. From what once was 'our' mag... How hath the mighty fallen..! I've in total agreement with Lev (top avatar! ), in his last line and if everyone 'wised' up to this it would certainly have to change or wrap up... Simples...!! matt32 44
Is there one person on this thread that is not a running dog enthusiast lol??? It's a sad fact that as lurcherwork generates next to nothing in money compared to shooting etc that no one is really on our side!! The reality is we are still seen as the lower class of hunting but who cares?? It's ok they think like that....f**k em lol just don't buy the paper and don't let it bother you....... As for anyone writing for it, well it's there choice and if there happy about it then says a lot about them imo like not coming on here for few months then coming on when they have a new book on sale.......personally I could care a f**k how much "game they put in front of there dogs" .if money is a motive then there as bad as the puppy peddlers and dog dealers......being "famous" don't stop you being a c**t.......JMO which is probably of little interest to anyone lol I noticed the book thing didnt realise aswell jd aint his real name and he is selling ltd edition books signed with that name. Why aint he got the guts to write under his real name.every christmas a new book ltd edition he has made good money from dog lads but when i asked him if he would speak to cmw about pre ban articles he wasnt intrested.Ive bought alot of his books but not anymore dogs and deer wa abig let down his best books are the ones with articles written by others Edited December 3, 2012 by matt32
