Matt3699 142
Seen this before. I think it was excessive force. Having said that, it looks like a pit type dog and was running towards the officer... Maybe a tazer would of been more appropriate. If the owner was having a seizure you can't blame his dog for wanting to protect him. If he was just drunk then I blame the owner. Seems like the police handled the situation poorly. Born Hunter 17,763
No idea what the circumstances were but one thing I will say is the shot seemed f*****g wreckless! I would like to think I would take a bite off of a dog before shooting towards a crowd of people simply to protect myself.

J.DOG 1,355
Can't say if it was right or wrong as I wasn't behind the gun but I know I'd have at least shot it a second time so it diddnt suffer to long .

Have you seen the split second it took him to draw his gun and fire. I dont think there was that much time to think about and fire taser, which i am guessing is far less accurate! I must admit though, it didnt exactly look aggressive, and none of the members of the public around him look that bothered about the dog beforehand!

Can't say if it was right or wrong as I wasn't behind the gun but I know I'd have at least shot it a second time so it diddnt suffer to long . My thoughts too. if you're a big enough man to pull the trigger the first time at least pull it again to stop the suffering. Although it did say this in the description of the video.... the pit bull shot in the head by police in the East Village Monday, is now in critical but stable condition,a animal control officials said. Animal Care & Control was caring for the wounded pit bull, but an agency spokesman refused Tuesday to further describe Stable condition.

Let the dog get hold, then blow its brains out safely, or stick the knife in. Again....easy to say after the event, but in the split second to take the decision, he did what he had to do. True I'd have wanted to assure the dog diddnt suffer but if the dog survived then fair enough but who knows what you'd do until you were in that situation which I would never want to be
The Seeker 3,048
We see plenty of the aftermath and very little of what went on before to make a judgement, the dog does look like it was about to attack the copper before it was shot so maybe there was little to be done

I'm not judging him, that video raises more questions than it answers. I just feel the shot was bloody dangerous. And to be honest the dog seemed like it was just guarding the unconcious man, it didn't look to really want to kill anybody. That said, the man obviously needed attention so the dog had to be dealt with some how.
