revmx 35
hey guys and girls... im a little confused with my bitch at the moment iv had her out under the light by her self for the past month the bitch is a stag/whip x bully/grey she has been run on foxes hares and rabbits she will catch and kill what ever i put her on but now this is what im confused with when it comes to chasing rabbits it seems she wont run 100% on them and after chasing 50 odd rabbits she has caught only 10 or so... when i put her on one she will take off run about 20 yards then stop and come back anyone know what the problem may be.....as when it comes to foxes and hares she will run her self to death trying to catch them....just wont do it on rabbits........this is her and her with a hare she got the other night it has got me confused as iv never had a runner do this........ cheers revmx Quote Link to post
TROY_BOY 62
so she catches 1 in 5 20% seems like the dog is a bit sickened by the amount getting away? maybe isnt fully committed to the run as it thinks the rabbit are going to get to safety anyway? try lamping rabbits that are sure things if theres such a thing the 1's in the middle of the field furthest from cover get that kill rate up to at least 50% so the dog is confident of killing most rabbits it runs big bitch Quote Link to post

Dan Edwards 1,134
This may not be related at all but the best coyote dog I ever seen really wouldnt give any effort to run anything else but them. Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
I'll add some more shit here as well. I have seen coon dogs that were outstanding that wouldnt bark at a cage coon. I have seen coon dogs that wouldnt even think of ever chasing a cat or a possum. I have seen supposed coyotes hounds that you could never ever get broke off deer and then some that wouldnt run them if you poured them on top of a deer. Dogs are dogs man. 1 Quote Link to post
