Had this situation happen a few years ago i was out and my teenage son was alone in the back yard with our Shar-pei an idiot jumped on the fence the dog latched onto his leg started ragging it whilst my son was smashing the bloke with a metal dog lead wasnt his day, Shar-pei awesome guard dog they are verging on obsessive when it comes to being territorial.

Would you reccomend shar pei as a guard? How bad is their dog aggression?

im restricted on what breeds of dog that im allowed to keep due to my tenancy agreement... In other words most breeds of bullterrier and guarding breeds are banned... Exception to that is the mali but they are quite high maintanence

who made that tenancy agreement ?? bit of a strange this to have in one tbh

Prefer not to say on thl, breeds not allowed: gsd/pittbull/jap tosa/rottweiler/doberman/ebt/staffy/akita & a few other breeds I cant remember exactly... And crossbreeds of the above breeds and mastiff breeds are also banned

Pm sent

tried to pm c.g. but couldnt

atb,j.

Again, same as the first Yard Dog topic, I really don't see the need of owning 'another' dog if it wouldn't be used for sommat else. If your a, for instance, bull breed fan and you wanted to keep one anyway and if it guarded, then great, two birds with one stone, like I said, same with any other breed BUT don't FFS go out an buy yourself a guard breed just because you now have Lurchers and Terriers in your yard..!!

Or at least before you know what your dogs can do, you'd be surprised at how good a big 'ol Cur can be..!!

Now these two ain't in the same league as J's dog there on film but i'd bet few would take their chances with 'em, they really do go..!!

the need really was for something the missus and kids can have indoors, bit company when i do the odd nights, like i say he aint no guard dog as such but makes all the right noises when need be

also, turning into a handy bushing dog to be fair although i use the phrase loosely, hes no purpose bred busher, his size is a bit of a disadvantage obviously but then his strenth makes up for it at times getting into tight cover he keen enough and has a good nose on him and i certainly see more out and about when hes with me than when he aint.and the lurchers know what to expect when hes in cover, win win for me i reckon cheers
