Carraghs Gem 1,675
I was reading in an american staghound book about general custer, he hunted with his favourite deerhound tuck as well as other longdogs... Does anyone know any further details? It is recorded in history that his dogs followed him into battle although no-one knows if they survived... http://ellenbaumler.blogspot.ie/2011/12/custers-dogs.html?m=1 Quote Link to post

I can't see any dogs lasting a long time as full on war dogs, say in Roman times with hand to hand combat being the norm if they weren't up to the job they'd be skewered, let alone in more recent times with firearms being the flavour of the day reckon they get a slug in every battle they entered not saying they wouldn't take a few "injuns" with them mind .
