Guest SJM
Sorry to hear this mate, I have had a dog fitting due to being poisoned so I know how you feel, he was out lamping and went off on a chase, was only gone maybe a minute at most and then he started fitting within a few minutes, the vet said he thought he had stopped to drink on the run back and been poisoned, possibly by algae/stagnant pond water. Its murder when your in the middle of nowhere as well and a semi conscious dog weighs a ton, I had to carry mine across a river and several fields to the road, and leave him lying in some bushes til I ran another half mile or so to the local pub to get a couple of lads to come and help me carry him back to the house where the vet picked him up. A post mortem wont bring her back but it might help you understand what happened and come to terms with it. Quote Link to post

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Shit. That's hard, man She just happens to have been the type I love too. I'll bet those poor kids and the girl adored her. My heart goes out to all concerned. Tough days ahead and no mistaking. Listen, regards the issue of poisoning; I'm hearing rather too much of late about " The vet said it was 'probably' poison. " And then them having no real idea what sort. Well, I've also heard of vet's who didn't know a Gin Trap from a f*cking Snare! Poisons are part of my profession. May I just suggest that, imho, there is No legal, intentional poison available in uk today that would cause that result? There was one. Perfectly reasonable to suspect some people may still hold and use it illegally too. But paying out a fortune to have that little Dog cut up and have some white coat tell ye, even then, that " It could have been ..... but we can't be sure. " ? Just lay the poor mite to rest and accept that she could, as easily, have been born with a hole in the heart or something. I've known top athletic Dogs drop dead from a congenital problem no one ever had cause to suspect. Only one other thing: Just in case ..... How about ye keep ye Dogs the f*ck away from that area, man? And keep ye ear discreetly to the ground. Quote Link to post
