One of my terriers would dig a hole to Australia if I left her in the garden longer than 5 minutes! I filled a small plastic bottle with stones and everytime she digs I shake it right next to her and say NO. So far it seems to be working as the plants I put in last week are still there as opposed to all over the path :victory: I also make sure she is supervised whilst in the garden and this helps.

A kennel with a decent size run and take it out every day for a run. Problem solved.

 This is the commonsence option. If your parents don't want a kennel tell them to get used to the exterior decorations on the lawn.......If you were to rehome a dog JUST because it dig the lawn then its a sad state

hell, my faithful hound was always digging up the lawn, to the state that it looked worse than the aftermouth of the battle of the somme! And the digging was done in winter when grass seed wouldn't take! Your pup should theoretically grow out of it, but until then just keep it supervisied! Good luck

Can't you just fence off part of the garden for the dog where he can do as he likes? That's what I've done: mind you I do have a big garden: though even a small area for the dog as his own will be better than nothing. That way you are not having to tell him off all the time for doing something that is just natural dog behaviour.

I have just been through the same thing with my pup mate, I found that she needed to get walked every afternoon. If i was late back from work one afternoon and it was dark she would get destructive. I used to take her on the leash so she couldnt chase anything and if there was an open paddock I knew she couldnt course anything i would let her off leash. While she was off leash i would practice the obedience. Walking to heel, and sit, stay laydown ect... trying to keep her busy and wear her out. So when we got home she would have some dinner and have a sleep.

It seems to work well, now at 12months she heels well and I dont need to walk on leash I let her hunt up.

It seems to have worked well, Bones where also good. And I took her ferreting with nets aswell, And now when i can run her she knows the deal around the nets and the ferrets and is switched on well.

Good luck with the pup mate, Looks like a very nice dog and hope it turns out well for you. Just be patient and dont expect much too soon. This is what I have learnt from this dog, Another good one someone once told me is "appreciate your dog for who it is"

Good luck mate hope to see it on the foxes one day,

My pup, the black one. Is whats known as a Staghound down here in Aus, The breed is one of the first Australian dogs that the settlers used for Kangaroos, Emus, Foxes, Rabbits ect.. .Basically to hunt for the meat. From what i have been told its a Deerx Grey but there have also been bits and peices thrown in along the way. I have been told there is a hint of Wolfhound coming out in that Bitch and if you look carefully it seems there is ,
