Hello everyone,

He's 5 months old now and wrecking the back garden, if it was my own house i would have the back garden flagged but unfortunately it's my parents and there patience is wearing thin!!! I have tryed back filling the holes but he just re digs it and makes a new one while he's at it!!!! :censored:

All advice welcome or i think me and the lurcher will be looking for a new home! :(

Would the simple solution to this problem not be to stop giving the puppy unrestriced access to your lawn? :whistling: If you take it out to do the toilet in the garden, praise it when its done its business and then bring it back in. That way it doesnt get chance to dig the garden does it? When you want to exercise it, take it elsewhere, park, field, whatever. I cant see how a pup can dig holes in the garden unless its being left there long enough unsupervised to get bored and decide to do a bit of doggie landscaping. If it starts to dig when your with it, tell it off with a loud NO or call it to you and distract it. Im surprised Mr Hancock hasnt written a book yet on how to train his merle things, as there certainly seems to be a market for it judging by the amount of posts from people asking how to do this or that, usually the most obvious of things that require only a bit of common sense?

Just kidding :haha: what you should do is take it into the garden, let it dig a HUGE ferking hole and then put your most powerful gun barrel behind its napper and send it to Australia

Hide the spade! B)

Sometimes a dog will keep digging all it's life unless it is stopped early, if you are lucky enough to catch the dog in the act make one hell of a racket while running towards the dog (growling as loud as you can will work) grab the dog, drag it back to the hole, push its nose into the hole while shouting NO,NO,NO take the dog well away from the hole and make a fuss of it, go really over the top with the fuss, keep doing this until it gets the message.

my dogs allways have the run of the garden, and luckily only dig holes under trees to lay on,in the rain or shade(even though they got a nice warm kennel

)try putting out a old coat or blanket to lay on ,might stop it scratting a dust hole to sleep in.if all else fails give it a spade and some seeds.......... :)

Not much you can do, its a pup, wants to have fun :D The obvious one would be to not let it have unsupervised access to the garden. Simple.

Then when your with it in the garden, if it starts to dig throw some water on it or a big deep shout, just something to get it to realise it cant do that. Can only try I suppose.....

Good luck
