jimster68 123
did you go back to the previous warren you had just been ferreting ,the coller could have sliped of the ferret and mabe you hadnt noticed ,then when you used the ferret again you might not have noticed the coller missing . also sometimes collers can come of when ferrets get cought in purse nets if coller wasnt put on tight enough in the first place . only time i had a bad reading from my mk3 was when batteries in coller was were low on power .reciever was showing coller down ten feet .it was nr end of day out and me and a mate decieded to start digging down as ground was very sandy and we were miles from home and didnt want to lose ferret and coller ,luckily when we started digging we found the ferret 3ft down eating a rabbit .i got back to the car and changed the batteries and the coller began working perfectly and showed the correct distance from the reciever .................................jim Quote Link to post
Guest vin
or the warren is very deep.. i was out yesterday in some very sandy warrens and the locator was off the scale on search..I had no reading at all untill they started coming up from below 16ft... very tricky. . . glad i didnt have to dig. davius74 0
the collar was definatley on her before i put her down i tested the locator when i got home and as soon as i walked more than 7 foot from the collar i got no readings on the reciever at all Quote Link to post
sam007 34
I don't know the cicumstances but perhaps the search/locate switch is not changing from locate as this will only locate upto 8ft. secondly as said perhaps the battery was low which could cause it. I personally change the collar batteries every time I go out they are pennies it's not worth risking it. I must say I have not had any probs and I have beenusing one for 2 years. Try and borrow another and go back and try and find it Sam Quote Link to post
