Brain or spine?

Recommended Posts

Jesus lads, you're talking about rats not bloody deer! You hit em anywhere from the ribcage to the head (with a .22) and they're a gonna.. Who cares if they flip about after a clean headshot, they're already dead whether they know it or not! :D

we know that Malt, but people dont like to see them jumping about!

ear cavity is the way in,direct route to the brain and stops them were they stand with .22 /.177

Hi Roger. I've used my FAC .22 HW80 on rats for all the years I've had it. The .22 round really thwacks them dead on impact, regardless of whether it's a head, upper body, chest shot. They are instan

Like with bunnies Roger, if they are hit in the head (large brain area called the cerebrum) then their nervous system gets crosswired and they kick and flap about, but essentially they are dead Even

Yeah but .22 does it better!   Sorry couldn't help myself.   ;-)

Last weekend I shot a rabbit with a 22LR and pritty much took its skull off, you could see clear daylight though the hole in its head and yet it jumped around like I had shot it in the arse! must of made at least a foot in the air

Was brilliant wish I had filmed it!

I always go for a head shot It produces a quick dignified death for the target, they dont know they are flopping around after they have been shot the body cant feel pain without the brain, its just electrical pulses and nerves twitching.

I find my .22 does a better job of putting them down stone dead just because the increased size you destroy more of the brain, .177 is still perfectly fine though

At the end of the day you try your best to get it right but sometimes S*&t happens

Unfortunatly for alot of people the only rabbits they know of come from Pets 4 Home and live in a cage in the back garden!

They have no clue as to why they react the way they do when shot and they just see the movements as pain and 'cruel' ..they are probably the same people who would advise you to use poison! :wallbash:

respectin g the quorry isnt just a romantic jestur, it has other implications regarding sense and safety.

A leaving wounded animals about leaves a danger to to others (and the suffering)

and what does it say about the persons mind set?

Yeah GOOD Point, Like if i fell over someones dead rabbit or rat and broke my rifle, i'd be very pissed off :cray:

I agree with Marty/probuck. Who the hell against shooting live animals cares about where or how humanely you shot your quarry? That will mean nothing to the antis. The very notion of shooting a live animal alone, will make them want to kill you!

Does anyone really believe that presenting video film of rats or anything else being shot and instantly killed in the most perfectly humane way possible will somehow appease and convince the anti shooting brigade into thinking we are safe, responsible shooters who care about the welfare of the animals we shoot?

Never in a million years!

simple, very simple question for an anti

an ant and your child in the road, a car is going to splat both, which do you save?

the point? sudenly it becomes subjective to personal wants... if they save the ant then well, anything more need saying?

pest control isnt subjective to wants..its vital for survival.
