Got up this morning at 5ish and had a coffee and bacon sarnie, loaded the van with all my gear and was off at about 6.30. Arrived at my new permission at 7.45 and went for a walk around to see if the warrens still looked good found a nice 10holer in quite thick cover so went and collected my stuff.

Netted up and had a quick scope around for any missed holes. At this point the 6horses that call this paddock home decided to come see what I was doing thankfully I was deep enough in the cover for them to lose interest quite quickly and left me in peace.in went the polecat Jill and the sandy gill, both this years kits on their first trip, within the first 2mins I heard the thumping and first rabbit in the purse net,a nice sized buck rabbit, blocked the hole with my foot and then re netted it,few minutes later another one in the net furthest from me,and by the time I got there another bolted from the hole with the polecat hot its heals. She turned and went down again and I re netted. Ended up with 5 from the first set and my Jill's had really impressed me,hung the rabbits in a tree and headed to the next set which was massive,I had 50 nets with me and only had 4 left in the bag so that's 46 holes that I could see.

I had my hob from this year aswell so put all three down, wasn't holding high hope for the hob because he is quite big and tends to want to play more than anything.

Anyway with all three down and I was ready for them, two bolted from a hole I'd missed and bolted into a net, then another further down, then it went quite for awhile,I sat down to have a smoke and if nothing showed the finder would be out, half way through my smoke I heard screaming, went over and my hob was attached to the rabbit, got him off and decided to box him up because it was time to head off as we have people over today.had to dig to my sandy Jill which wasn't bad.

Ended with 8 and all my nets and ferrets, good morning out and very very impressed with the ferrets who seem to be naturals.
