what age do you start working your ferrets

just wondering what age do you start working your ferrets.cheers did'nt start working mine untill they were two or more but thinking of breeding my polcat ferret who is a very good worker or just buying two.what ever i decide i would like to be working them by the end of the season.starting them on a few three or two holers helped out by my older two jills.

this spings young will not grow up untill winter the following sping

try them earlier if you like but they will realy piss you off.

pulling down nets ,bouncing in the holes etc

a right pain in the arse let them grow up first

I've always worked young ferrets in their first season, a couple of outings and they get the jist of it but won't be experienced till the end of their next season. Get a dog to mark a small (less than 10 hole) bury and let them enter as they wish, unusual to not get one working on its first outing i've found.

by next season they will be ok but idont work them till the season after because the piss about a lot with the nets and they sometimes play about not saying every ferret like that but i got my working jills so they no rush to get the kit started for me

:gunsmilie: I started my 2 15 week old jills with their mother on their first outing. they have never looked back. they show alot of promise. when i want them out i whistle down the hole and come out straightaway

thanks for the replies.thats a good idea Hairyarsedscotsmen with the whistle to recall your ferrets,do you learn them that buy whistleing when you feed them.i did something very similar with my albino jill ,can call her name and she follows me around the garden.thanks again
