Took the springers for a run this morn.I went to a big area of stubble that has good heavy ditches and a couple of drains run through it so always a chance of a duck especially with the ponds frozen.Worked my way down a good heavy hedge and flushed a couple of hens then a good cock bird but he went the oppisite side so no shot.Moved on to another cross hedge and a fox left it followed by my old bitch giving the odd yapp, she can hardly keep up now let alone course a fox, lol.Next flushed was a cock bird which i emptyed the gun on and not as much as a feather left it.Carried on and the young bitch presented me with a lovely shot on a cock but with the frustration of missing the last one i had completely forgot to reload and i felt like a real prat when puting up the gun pulling the trigger to the sound of click,i think the dogs even knew what was goin on by the way they looked at me,awell they will be there for again and it was a good walk about plus i was checking on earths for the mornings diging.

i mate laughed his danglers off at me earlier today as when i shot my new side by side.

when i pulled the trigger on the first shot my finger was on the safety and when the recoil pushed the gun back i put safety on with out noticing so 20 minutes later after it kept doing it my mate took a go and it worked so i said [bANNED TEXT] give me that so one hour later i finally notice what i was doing just had to keep my finger away from the safety ;) there was some servere head scratching going on.
