Bebop 0
Plenty of exposure, they need to see the ferrets all the time and you handling them. I had a nightmare with my Bedlington dog when I first had the ferrets, he kept on trying to nail them! What I did in the end was hold his jaw and let the ferrets around, I even put one of the ferrets to his nose when holding his jaw and the ferret bit his nose!! Not intended mind. Ever since then he has had respect for them but would never ever take my eyes off him around the ferrets, he just has that look about him from time to time. Quote Link to post

Brimmer 220
Time and exposure to the ferrets will help, and also you laying the law down. My old russell was 18 months before he met the ferrets, he's a big hard b*****d, but he over time he soon got to respecting them in a working enviroment. keep an eye on them at all times like already said, in time with you on top of them, they will come around. As soon as you can let the pup nose through the cage front if it can and let them mingle in the yard. If the ferret nips the pup all well and good at an early stage better now than later and things should be fine as the pup grows up with them Quote Link to post
fieldsportsman 107
well, when i introduced my ferrets to my terrier, it was fairly easy. I think this is because he is fairly steady anyway, but i got him used to them by letting him sniffing them at the cage, and letting them around while he was on a lead. if they try and go for them, pull them back with a firm no Quote Link to post
