Deer and fox dogs

Recommended Posts

if it aint learnt after catching a few how to handle them and you find it in the pen lame more often than your out i wouldnt be keeping it as a deer dog. As has been said before there are deer dogs that catch the odd uns and end up with cuts and bruises and there are deer dogs that do it week in week out without so much as a scratch. but if you need a ozzy style chest plate for a munty i would stick to catching rabbits.

but surely chest plates are a small price to pay when risking your dogs life???

Dogs travel at 50 mph in the dark on all sorts of terrain matey, your risking its life every time you let go of the slip lead.

Some dogs you got

Do I bother?.........errr.........nah !

What species of deer do you have?......I would think a white tail is similar in size to a fallow doe

Obviously we don't have moose.......but if we did, someone would have killed one with a whippet! Lol lol

Around me we just have white tail and like I said I have never seen a "deer dog". I seen one dog that I would say would have been fast enough for some deer but he was a pusher. He acted like he wanted to play the part but it was obvious that he did not want it.
