Dan Edwards 1,134
How can you coment on deer dogs if youve never seen one. My point exactly. If there were such a thing I'm quite sure I would have seen one by now. Facts are fox are a joke compared to real deer. I'd hardly call them little rabbits yall call Roe a dog gone deer. 1 Quote Link to post
WILF 47,650
if it aint learnt after catching a few how to handle them and you find it in the pen lame more often than your out i wouldnt be keeping it as a deer dog. As has been said before there are deer dogs that catch the odd uns and end up with cuts and bruises and there are deer dogs that do it week in week out without so much as a scratch. but if you need a ozzy style chest plate for a munty i would stick to catching rabbits. but surely chest plates are a small price to pay when risking your dogs life??? Dogs travel at 50 mph in the dark on all sorts of terrain matey, your risking its life every time you let go of the slip lead. 2 Quote Link to post
Ray Mears 272
there is a risk in everything you slip your dog on. be it a rabbit you dont put a helmet on your mut incase it runs in to a wall.. well at least i dont.. you cant wrap them in cotton wool there is a risk everytime your dogs off the lead Quote Link to post

What species of deer do you have?......I would think a white tail is similar in size to a fallow doe Obviously we don't have moose.......but if we did, someone would have killed one with a whippet!
