how many times do you worm a pup

Recommended Posts

Iv got a pup 3 n half months i wormed her nearly 3 weeks ago should i worm her now? Cheers lads

yes keep worming it, do it every 3 months till its 12 months old. Then i do twice a year, start of the season+ mot+ jab then end of season .been doing this over 25 years with lurchers or any breed of dog

as S/F said use Drontal which is a good wormer

At that age it does depend on whether it was wormed with the litter. I do my litters with Drontal puppy suspension every two weeks from two weeks of age and advise any new owners to continue until 12 weeks. After that with mine I move on to every three months until 12 months then twice yearly. (Unless I have reason to believe an extra worming is necessary)

Problem is if you have a pup that wasn't wormed as part of a litter or you just don't know I would do 3 x 2 weekly worming before going to every 3 months just to be on safe side. Won't kill it and it's a small price to pay compared with what a heavy worm burden can do to a young pups insides.

I would start from 2 weeks of age then every 2 weeks up to 3 months....then once a month up to 6 months....from then on every quarter(3 months) for the rest of its life....dont forget if its a working dog then it will come into contact with worm/flea infestation off its quarry on a regular basis..hence the quarterly de worming/fleaing....atb stabba
