Cable slider system

Recommended Posts

hi andy bhoy

not sure when g waters designed these snares or how they work but you should make sure they comply with the new laws, ie the fox cant get hung on the fence ect, i hope i dont come across condescending but i know a couple of people now who are in soapy bubble for not hanging wires according to the new laws

The slider system was designed to pull a snared fox away from any risk of entanglement ..., as far as I know there aren't any available commercially as those who use them normally make there own. The stake is normally a re-bar or angle iron stake used in conjunction with a ring or swivel.....atb

Sorry I only use a phone & posting pictures is an impossible task ( for me anyway )..... You have to remember that the slider system is just that, a system used to pull a snared animal away from any risk of entanglement or away from public view, it's based around an American design for a drowner and to use it effectively and stay legal you would be best running a shorter, purpose built snare........

There was a guy selling them on eBay, but someone moaned about him selling snares so he had to remove, he is still selling other bits and will sell you them if you contact him. The seller is wildlifemanagementassociation

Ive tried this system few years ago. nothing new about it and used in the states as a drown system for otter, beaver and even mink in foot holds.. some use them for coyote also to get the captive out of sight as in ditch etc near roads.. i had twp foxes in them. one was it said on the tin ,20 ft out from the fence,,, the second was wrapped up in wire.. they work one way .. so saying a for hits the fence in the direction the cable is set out ,,,, or line wire etc he should go under fence run with snare then at the end of the road come to a stop with no return ... in ideal world maybe..... the one i had must have done just that,,.. the other must have came through the fence from the line wire side.. felt the snare and instead of going back under the run to the end of the line wire decided to go through a square in the pig wire and really got wrapped up. they were meant as a drowning aid for mink, beaver and otter etc and done the job well ,but foxes on uk fence lines etc a big no for me... there little reason why a fox cant be taken away from a fence line anyway,, look where they travel and no need to use a fence or hedge... my findings only tho and good luck to them who uses it more successful than i have ;)
