Lure fishing a question?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks just starting to take up lure fishing,i am off to the tackle shop tomorrow to buy some bits and bobs.

I was looking in a magazine at braid and it said that you can get sinking braid and floating braid.

Which one do you use for lure fishing?

Personally I use floating, but my only experience is targetting mackerel off a pier using feather rigs with a 3 oz weight on the end so the weight'll drag it down anyway.

Tight lines.

Thanks folks :signthankspin: .

I have just come back from the tackle shop with a big bag full of goodies.

The shop was having a stock clearance sale i picked up three ondex spinners 50p each,i picked up loads of plugs, spinners and spoons the most expensive being £2.99.

I also got a lure storage bag for £10.00.

And the braid i got was 30lb sinking berkley for 19.99.

So i am all ready now to start fishing when the rivers go down.I will see how i get on with it then get some some of the expensive lures.

Thanks again folks.

Just one more thing,in the shop there was a few lure and the price was....wait for it.............£35.00 :icon_eek: .Would anybody on here pay that much for a lure,i mean they did look good but feck me 35.00 :icon_eek: a bit steep.

For £35 I'd want it to jump out me bucket and catch the Feckers it's self

was it one of those gold plated spinners/spoons?

It was about the size of a dvd case and it looked like somebody had took a photo of a perch both sides and some how put it on the lure,it did look good, but i think it was more to catch the fisherman then fish.

I would be scared to cast it,imagen first cast and you hook bottom and lose it :laugh::icon_eek:

I do a lot of lure fishing for pike, do not know what size lures you are using but 50lb bs is a good starting point going up to 80lb for larger lures using multipliers. You get a lot more of your lures back when snagged, 50lb braid is the same diameter as 12lb mono. Powerpro is what most lure fishermen use, Ebays the best for it.
