Bosun11 537
Well benitez just been appointed new manager at chelski Short term, if you ask me, Benitez is still deluded enough to think he's still got a crack at returning to Anfield, he's still got his Caldy house, he's never bothered with any other club but a 6/7 month stint with Chelsea pay will keep him ticking over until he gets the Anfield call... Gardiola's in waiting in the wings, he's in no rush, bit of down time but i'll bet by the summer he's in.
Malt 379
I don't even think Pep will be there for long.. Abramovich don't seem to realise that he can't win every fecking thing no matter how much money he's chucking at his project and they'll be winning even less now that City are up there challenging too.. Think back over the years at some of the other much heralded managers they've had.. Scolari was meant to be the be al and end all, world cup winning manager and all that, and he lasted all of about 6 months! The Chelsea job must be one of the most sought after jobs in football, a new manager knows he only has to do about a years work at most for 2/4 years wages depending on the deal! Bosun11 537
Gardiola always takes on short term (12 month) contracts, Chelsea will suit him right down to the ground. As for Chelsea winning anything, well until they stop their delusion that they didn't have to replace Drogba because Torres is still a top draw striker....
gnasher16 30,435
Abramovich will only be happy with a manager who wins trophies playing like Barcelona.............and that aint never gonna happen not in the premier league......but.....this is the price you pay for selling your club out to a hobbyist......Abramovich can do whatever the f**k he wants change managers every week if he likes its his toy to do what he pleases with. The ONLY thing about that club thats still Chelsea is the ground and the colour of their shirts....same as Man City....I feel genuinely sorry for fans of these clubs regardless what they win........its simply not their club winning it ! I,ll never understand statements like this .............in England every week now we are witnessing in front of our eyes a far higher standard of football than we have ever seen before.....the most popular and competetive league in world football.....how could a football fan lose interest Forget money or newspaper headlines or all the showbiz bollocks.........................for pure football this is the greatest era we have ever seen in the game, make the most of it i say. GOT to diagree with ya gnash, its certainly better presented to the public with the technology we have in some cases its like the games in the front room and i would agree players are fitter due to advances in the diet they have and training methods, but i genuienly dont think the football played or players playing the game are better than previouse era's, alot of what we take as skill in this era is down to some ability and some advances in the football boots and the aerodynamics of the ball the pitches and surfaces all make it very good to watch. the best era for football imo was when we had players with ability like BEST, BOBBY MOORE, DE STEFENOE, PUSKAS, PELE, BAXTER, JOHNSTONE, these lads could make you want to go to a game every night , i dont think theres been a defender who could actually play or use the ball better than bobby moore and they did it without the specially made boots and a ball thats made so it can be bent. Foreign managers. Foreign owners, foreign players, I its all good for British football ain't it, it's a f*****g farse... It may be good football they play but it's killing our home grown lads, which is sad to see Edited November 23, 2012 by alimac

But that applies to every sport doesnt it Snagbrac................Andy Murray dont play with a crappy old wooden tennis racket he plays with state of the art rackets with state of the art high speed balls on immaculate courts.............Snooker players play on completely different tables with different cues etc etc............theres no sport that hasnt evolved with technology be it equipment or fitness........football is no different .............i agree its presented better but surely thats a great thing for football fans......... Theres no bigger fan of Bobby Moore than me i adored the man but could he cope with todays speed of movement with players like Suarez or Tevez i dont know......but then he would be quicker/fitter himself and thats the tricky part about comparing different eras.....................Your average Englishman never got to watch Pele,Puskas or De Stefano live, and very rarely on tv....in his prime Pele never played outside Brazil.............yet today you or me can go and watch our own club on a saturday and watch some of the worlds best players....or stay in and watch them on the box...................for someone like me who follows a crappy little club like West Ham to be able to watch and study Ronaldo live in front of my eyes at Upton Park a few years ago was a privelidge......to be able to watch Messi on pretty much a weekly basis even just on tv.......are things we just couldnt do in the eras you talk about. onion jonny 527
Ignore me gnasher i'm just getting old and starting to think of the good old days, wouldnt it be great if we had these old lads with the present technology, anyway i'll just go back to my own little world where everything in the sixties/seventies was best.
