im now saving up for "the saddle" for hunting

 

Whats the best saddle money can buy for between 850-1350sterling

Must be in black leather.

 

Im also looking for a black general purpose saddle... Has to be good looking and comfortable

I dont know if You have Master Saddlers in Ireland, but i would always advocate the use of one, an ill fitting saddle can lead to endless problems, and it goes without saying He/She would give You recommendations

There is one in dublin... They stock the gp saddle I have my eye on but its very pricey at 2800euros: black country vinici gp and im not sure that particular saddle will be any good for jumping and if I bought that I would only be able to afford the 1 saddle.

You should be ok for Jumping and hunting in a GP saddle, however its the ' fit' that is crucial, the price maybe higher , which would suggest it is of better quality

Whatever one you get - get it fitted by an expert saddler, who can advise on what would suit the physique of your particular horse and importantly, adjust it as your horse changes condition. Is this for your latest young horse? Bear in mind, if it is only a youngster, that it will change as it matures and builds muscle. As other poster said, you can avoid trouble in the future by spending time and money getting things right now.

I used to worry about having a saddle fitted to particular horse however with the use of "pads" i use my 2 hunt saddles on upto 9 different horses every year so dont worry to much.

 

What you need is plenty of roll on the front.
