Simoman 110
I quite like discos but had a defender 110, never again, uncomfortable to drive, expensive to run and not all that reliable. At 17 the insurance will be stupid and not worth it it imo, if you are determined to own a 4x4 then as suggested, get a vitara, unless money is no object............. Lampalurcher 47
There isn't bags off room your right there but if your young its not like your backs going to drop out insurence on a defender is half of what a Saxo or a corsa
Lampalurcher 47
It's ok like I use mine but its crap if u have three in the front cos not a lot of room and if u drive properly fuel isn't bad

Lampalurcher 47
To be honest if your practical get a vitara not much difference in room or insurence but less to run but who doesn't like the look of a proper landy

AshR1 214
its alright if you've got the money, mate of mine 18, got a corsa and then went out and bought a 2.5ltr defender, a lot of money even with the no claims
Lampalurcher 47
Ah but insurence on a corsa can be up to five grand easy like defenders are more expensive to buy but last longer an cheaper to insure

spade 224
Go basic & get an old series 3, then get limited mileage classic car insurance though it doesn't have to be too limited.
chilli 381
I'm 6 foot 2 an I can drive comfortable enough so unless your a lard arse should be grand job You can get seat sliders that you bolt between the seat & the floor ,easy to fit & cheap to buy . These will give you 3 more inches of room making more comfotable .
