Jamie93 57
I'm after getting a lurcher at last. I've kept ferrets and been shooting for years but have always wanted a lurcher. I'll be taking him ferreting, lamping and a few day time runs. I also want something with the capability of taking hares if the law was ever reversed. I've been looking at a few beddy/whippetxGreys but I really want a short coated dog and am struggling to find any in this bredding. Anyone got any ideas of some possible different crosses or is this one ideal? Thanks Quote Link to post

Thanks For what you will be doing Imo you don't want anything with too much saluki in it..saluki's are good at what they are bred for but they can be a bit ignorant and nervy.. Quote Link to post

Guest long-tail
a lot lads bang on about saluki types being ignorant, nervy difficult to train what ever but iv not found to much problems with them, not saying you wont be pulling your hair out at times but that can be said for most types when your trying to get what you want from them starting out, patience and a non agressive approach seems to be the key you wont go far wrong, remember a lad saying you got be their mate he wasnt wrong cheers Quote Link to post
vixen 528
Everybody differs in their choice of lurcher so you will get loads of answers telling you to have this type or that type, you will have an idea in your head what you want..... me personally ........i cant see past the beddy x whippet......beddy x greyhound.........love my two 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy dogs (one has short coat), and for the bigger type i will only ever have the deerhound x greyhound 1st or 2nd generation although i do love my 3/4 greyhound 1/4 deerhound, these are the types of lurcher i will only ever own as i find them very biddable and have very stable natures , just my choice but maybe i've just been lucky, goodluck in whatever type you get, but dont just rush in and get a puppy because someone has a litter there and then Quote Link to post
