RubyTex 1,957
He'll be best off going to one of the colleges, seems to be now a piece of paper means more than the experience IMO Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
Buy some pheasant poults. Raise em. Then charge for the privilege of shooting em. I can see a window for urbanisation too. Raise em in your garden then let the neighbours know when they'll be released. All can stand on their postage stamps and shoot em as they fly over (straight up so as to stay legal and preserve sky dishes etc). What oh chaps! Now the proletariate can be Hooray Henrys too! Hooray! Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
It's helpful if you get known as a good lad, who is responsible, handy round a shoot etc. Will really help, if you know a few fok, when it comes to looking for a job. A lot of jobs are never really advertised publicly. Quote Link to post

sikastag_1 689
Going to college is good and well, but students are churned out year after year with no jobs lined up, if you want my opinion mate go to Thurso college is the way forward, work based courses, best of both worlds. sikastag_1 689
And paper doesn't come before experience lads, when do you ever read in a keepin advert must have xxxxxxx qualifications, it says experience, when really we all know it's who you know lol, good luck to your mate anyway Quote Link to post

Doing a bit of unpaid 'keeping over the winter and i'll hopefully get back into a paid role next year. Quote Link to post
danw 1,748
I would advise the lad to get round every game farm he can now for next years season not only will he gain experience rearing but he will get contacts and for sure in this game it is who you know as was said above most jobs won't be advertised so it is up to him to put in the leg work. Rubytex hope you get back full time mate do you have anything lined up? Quote Link to post

RubyTex 1,957
Rubytex hope you get back full time mate do you have anything lined up? possibly in North Yorkshire but i've heard nothing back for a while. Other than that i'll just see what vacancies arise after the current season ends and go from there. David mc let us know how he gets on if he does decide to go down the deep dark route that is game keeping Quote Link to post
