Purse net dimensions

Hello people, will somebody please put up some sizes for purse nets as I'm trying to learn how to knit them, what I mean is could you tell me how many meshes wide,how many meshes long and stuff I will be making my own at 4ft long but dimensions for 3ft 6 would also be appreciated as I might start with the smaller ones til I get the hang of it, cheers rabbitcatcher,

Theres no set dimensions I go twenty meshes wide on all my net's and either a two inch mesh or two and a eighth mesh and keep knitting till i get to four foot

So do you start with 20 meshes on the ring? Or do you start with say 9 and work up to 20 then back down to 9 as obviously there's different methods, in fact there's that many it's a bit confusing to me but I'm determined to master the art, cheers for the reply

I put twenty on the ring ,but as i said theres no standard size you can start with as little meshes as you want and add to them . But i always liked plenty bagging in my nets

vary your lengths a bit a few nice short ones are ideal for tight spots in the hedge

first things first, get over to agouti nets website and watch the net making tutorial. get some cheap twine and have a bash. if you make a mistake find out what you did wrong then cut the lot off the ring and start again (hence the cheap twine) dont mess about trying to unpick rows. you'll soon learn to take your time and concentrate for fear of cutting up your hard work again.

start with a straight net ie the same number of rows from ring to ring 16-18 wide and untill you get to your desired length. When your confident you can keep track of increasing and decreasing rows then move onto shaping your nets. Remember PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT.

10 on ring adding 1 each row up to 18 then 5 rows at 18 then decrease back down to 10 taking 1 away a row at a time ... Works for me .

8 to the ring then another 8 add one each row till 17 4 lots of 17 in middle back down to 8 another 8 onto the ring in 2and1/8 just over 4 ft is what i make most mine at, make a few different sizes see what you prefer,as said above agouti nets supplies is good.let us know how you get on mate atb

Just made my first net, I made it the way darrenb47 said and it's turned out ok, at 3ft 6 with 2 inch gauge,so cheers for the info peeps.
