definatly yes

much prefer the new one myself

Out of interest if Deben brought back the mark1 at a decent price, a years guarantee and spare parts available, would you purchase one?

Would certainly consider it Laurie.

How's things? Not heard from you in a while.

If it had the flat mk3 collars with it then yes.

you can use the mk3 collars with the mk1 box

I would, definitely. I like it's simplicity, had mk3s in the past but sold them and am sticking to mk1.

I know mate but you cant buy the old flat mk3 collars anymore. Those in my opinion were the best.

Just getting out once a week with the ferrets, as ive managed to talk my better half into being my apprentice,

It means not a lot of Bunnies, as she thinks ferreting is boring, and after a couple of hours wants to go home,

Tried to pm you but couldn't get through, is your box full?

easy solution to that bud  ......one of the main reasons why I like ferreting (and fishing!) on my own, nothing worse than being well up for a few hours out doing either and someone asking "what time are we going" every 5 minutes. Go on your own and you can stay for as little or as long as you want.

Anyway, back on subject. I would imagine it's the same reason why VW didn't reintroduce the mk1 golf GTI when everyone was saying it was better than the mk2 and 3. They're not going to spend loads of money developing new models and then go back to selling the old one again. Plus, if they brought out a budget model similar to a mk1 but cheaper than the mk3, everyone would get one of them and the more expensive mk3 sales would plummet.

There are a handful of people like the people who have commented on this thread who prefer the mk1, but I bet if you asked everyone the bulk would prefer the mk3 just because of the features etc. To be perfectly honest if I was doing a lot of digging, and deeper digging, then I would probably go for the mk3 aswell, it's just 99% of the time when I dig it's on smallish warrens at a depth of less than 3ft so you don't need a super accurate reading or anything.

I would and so would a lot of people if you look at the prices secondhand ones are selling on ebay for

So why would Deben not make them,as i said they could carry on making the mark.1

The problem Deben had was with component parts, these were old components fast being made obsolete. i guess the MOQ was far too high for them to carry on with the MK1 box/collar or simply the manufacturer moved onto newer component products. SCRAMBLE
