Sunday morning ferreting

Recommended Posts

Hi lads, I was out today :) Left the house at 9:00 this morning and got to the land at 9:30.Brought the lurcher this time :) Walked into the first field Ground was white with all the frost with a bit of sun shine, a perfect morning for ferreting. Any way as soon as i went into the first field i looked across at the ditch i was going to ferret and saw 6 rabbits. So over i went with the ferrets,Nets and the dog and mate and we netted up.Stop nets on one side and the dog on the other:) So we collered up the two jills and off with them.About half an hour in and the first rabbit bolts into the stop nets and then quickly despatched. First bunny in the bag :) Then another couple of minutes another bolted on the mutts side ! the rabbit decided to run down along the ditch but the dog turned him just before he turned into the ditch. Bunny number 2 :) Waited another 10 minutes and no sign of ferrets or rabbits so took out the finder and located the ferrets at 2 foot down , so not to bad. Dug down to the ferret and took out the rabbit :) bunny number 3.

So we moved on to another small ditch and the dog marked a set with about 6 holes so put stop nets on 1 side and the dog on the other. So popped the stinkers in and about 2 minutes in and I hear tumping and a bunny bolts and the dog courses him and gets him :) Bunny number 4. We ran the ferrets through again but nothing left in the set :( We decided to call it a day as i could only go out for an hour or two. On the way back there was a rabbit in a stubble field, so i slipped the mut and he caught him :) bunny number 5 :) I took some pictures of the day but i don't have a clue how to upload them onto hear !

So not a bad day out for an hour and a half :)

Cheers lads atb !!
