porkycrook 466
I know that both Davy and Si get alot of negativity over what the shoot both with video and gun. They have people from outside this hobby moaning about what they are shooting, these are not the people that are being affected by the rats/pigeon or rabbit infestation. The people who are complaining, are not the farmer who is fighting for a living having his crop/harvest prices affected due to pest deficatings in the harvested crops. Or even the person that has to have their home rewired at best or rebuilt after the fire at worse, where the rats have chewed through the electricity cables in their homes and have caused either an electrical problem or even a fire. They also are having people within this hobby belittling their achievments, mostly through jealousy. Wheather it be for the amount of permissions they have or for what publicity they are getting, i don't know. The two of them appear on video to be whiter than white doing nothing wrong, only taking what they consider to be "kill" shot. Anyone that spends time with either or both of them soon find out that what you see on the videos is what you get in person. With every shot they take on video they keep saying "it's just nerves folks" when the shot animal gives it's last twitches, which they are and it is. No longer owning a shotgun myself, but are the people that shoot pigeons, pheasants with a shotgun getting as much grief? When they take a high bird and just happen to clip the bird breaking its wing, the bird then can no longer fly so fall from say 100 feet. The shot does not kill them neither does the fall, so they crash into the ground still not dead they then get bit by a dog returning to the gun/beater to then have its neck snapped. The deer that is hunted/stalked and then shot, if it is lucky they have their life ended by a true aim/shot. But if not they are unlucky enough to have its internals hit, running off to die a slow slow death. So out of all these animals that get shot which one gets treated with the most dignity???? milegajo 595
Ahhh that's better. Now, when's the next one? Need to get me a "Gry Drain Store" to shoot in! I have heard on the grapevine that Spike Hippyway and SpaceyTree of VerminLuversTV are releasing an episode on rat shooting alternatives, one method I think they plan on demonstrating is the ancient and mystical discipline of 'Rat Tickling'... may provide some pointers and a way of appeasing the 'antis'? Nice work chaps Much Love, Milo Edited November 18, 2012 by milegajo Quote Link to post

Elliott 436
Awesome Si, you and Davey are a fair old team when it comes to vermin control. I have a farm directly behind my dividing wall. Its full of cattle sheds, food hoppers and slurry stores and plagued with Jackdaws (and I bet lots of rats). I've witnessed in excess of 60 Jackdaws in the feed troughs. The farmer also has 150 acres of land and one of my goals is to secure permission on there. I'd be out of my back gate and onto the farm within 40 strides! ATB Edited November 18, 2012 by Elliott 1 Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
crawlin bum brown noising and all that aside, Si doesnt deserve any shit off any one, he's one of the few peoples about that i dont recall any bullshit..facts is facts etc, he even acounts to the sofa brigades so what room is there for any flack? other than just havin a grumble at it all..pointlesly. he's more than proven 'worthy'.. he's more than been plain and too it, promoating 'responcable' shooting blah blah blah..sod um if them maon at that, there aint no pleasing some is there lol. nar the, them rats, theres one of two things going on, 1'st, theyve not long moved in the tensions are hi because up untill then there was no presure, the groups and 'bands of' rats all had pritty much a polite turn on the feeding grounds, now, in the winter panic theyre all pushing their luck and re ranking out, as such it because a clock work 'some ones looking at me' so run/movve/react.. so they just move on auto but unawares. 2'nd..theyve been shot at regularly, and they on auto just realise and move, because any that didnt got shot basically, no grand wisdom, no fancy hi intelects and nosions of esentiance and the likes, plain and simple move or die... one way i found was to leave a stationary light in there (ir or other) that way theres no hints contous or subcontous as to who you'r looking at. (after that..they know lol). i knoticed the bigger rats were getting a bit nasty shitty in their temperment i have observed many that do that, later they start coming out out you! all uppady like an old man that should be on an asbo...they flip really hi after a head shot lol. (they stop and look at yu head on, all poised for agro...) to coin a fraise its like watching mega spoilt brats throwing a fit when they cant have it.
