Recall improving

Recommended Posts

Iv been posting how when out laming my dog don't come back for ages after iv slipped him. Iv been trainning him during the day and on a night and he coming on well. So I went lamping on Thursday and there was a massive improvement in his recall. And I don't no if it was a one off but we only court one rabbit and my mate jumped over the wall to get him while I stayed next to car he ran past him with rabbit in mouth jumped the wall and retrieved straight to my hand.i couldn't believe it. Poor night because of fog but we was out so tried our best but I was happy with how he is improving and can see that it is possible to make him into a good dog. 8c4d856e.jpg

Personally i wouldn't of taken the dog lamping as it gives him the opportunity to ignore the recall and it reinforces the fact he CAN ignore you. Be better off giving lamping a break for a few weeks and working on the recall away from the field.......

That's the thing took him to our local dog walking park and people was complementing me on his recall he was about 150 yards playing with another dog and as soon as I called him he came straight back. It's just once he is slipped he try's hunting up himself but he is coming in a lot quicker than he was by this time next year I think he will be bang on.

I find that there is no room for complacency if you want a good dog........should it be recall, stock breaking, mixing with other dogs etc.........best results come from keeping training an ongoing activity, regardless of dogs age and experience. It takes time and commitment. Glad to hear you are making progress......keep us updated.
