PeakOil 352
I wonder how many folk who know a lot less / nowt about their vehicles have been unfairly stung because of the incompetent ministry man? Reminds me of one or two of the 'discussions' I have had with MOT testers over the years.

hily 379
Told me wheel nuts fitted wrong NO they are double ended. Then break away cable should be attached to brakes No trailer only 3/4 ton and is older than legislation air breaks pipes will snap if trailer gets loose and so the brakes won't work no the trailer and defender don't have air brakes and if air pipes come adrift then the brakes will come on.I think the NATO hitch and the coil of lighting cable( looks like air pipe) threw him and he thought he was dealing with something a lot bigger than it was. RossM 8,082
Similar thing happened with me a fair few years ago. I got a mate to give me a lift up town to pick up a kilt as I was banned from driving at the time, he hadn't long passed his test and had a 91 reg escort. We were driving along George street in Edinburgh (busy busy) there was a Peugeot in front of us and it had a brake light out, 2 behind us was a police van. Next thing the blue lights came on and they pulled my mate, pure and simple he had an old car. They then informed him that they would carry out a roadside mot to see if it was roadworthy. I said that they only pulled my mate as his motor was old and that they had missed the car that shouldn't be on the road. So they started with the lights working his way through before saying "reverse light" and this is where I chipped in and informed them that the reverse light didn't come into an mot, one of them asked me my name blah blah blah then said he believed I was on drugs and was going to search me under some drugs act! next thing I knew I was spread against a posh shop window being searched with everyone staring at me, he pulled my toolbox keys out of my pocket and obviously after doing a name check knew I was banned then said are these car keys? I replied have you ever heard of a britool car like? I did give him abit of lip and informed him the police employ any daft c**t nowadays and I wanted everything put back in my bag and I was going to report them. I made him look stupid so he wanted to do the same to me, bottom line is they are all c**ts!! Well done
walshie 2,804
Why would someone get a job testing things when they don't know what they're testing for? Good for you!
