Chid 6,614
well they wouldnt be any differant to any other collie x we have a merle coloured lurcher here, ... but he is collie/bull/grey he is no good on foxes (legal here in NI), does fine on the rabbits , will ferret and hunt up during the day.. he works well as a team with my other dog Quote Link to post
ruby16 80
I WAS INTO COLLIE /GREYHOUNDS BEFORE I WENT ONTO SALUKIS, HAD A MERLE A GOOD WHILE BACK NOW, USED HIM ONLY ON LAMP AND HE WAS THE BEST LAMP DOG I HAVE EVER OWNED, HE LEARNED VERY QUICKLY AND BY THE TIME HE WAS 18MNTHS OLD HE WAS TAKING 70 TO % OF HIS RABBITS OUT OF THE SEAT, BEST NITE I EVER HAD WAS RUNNING HIM WITH A LADS DOG FROM YORKSHIRE, WE RAN AT KETTLEWELL IN THE DALES AND ENDED UP WITH 110 RABBITS OF WHICH MERLIN ACCOUNTED FOR AT LEAST 70,YOU MIGHT THINK THIS IS BUL---IT BUT I REALLY DONT CARE, THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD DOG LADS OUT THERE THAT WILL RECOGNISE THIS AND KNOW IT IS THE TRUTH.(THE DOGS NAME WAS MERLIN). 1 Quote Link to post
kps1979 1,308
sounds like a good dog you had, if i get a new lurcher id like it to hunt up on its own, did yours do this? ive got a cracking terrier who does this at the moment but like watching the lurchers do it, Quote Link to post

Ray Mears 272
no mate, i only used him on the lamp and you dont want a dog to hunt up when lamping. you can use a dog for bushing, fereting etc.. and it will come back as soon as the lamps off just takes time to no whats expected of him or her Quote Link to post
