Book Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Hi guys n gals, just looking for some good book recommendations.

I've read John Lewis-Stempels 'The Wild life' which is an excellent read about how he set about living for a year just on wild food. In fact I finished it and immediately re-read it!

I also liked 'The amateur poacher' by Richard Jefferies written in 1889 if memory serves. Also a good read and you suddenly realise how much our little island has changed and also how little people have changed.

Can anyone recommend further reading in a similar vein?

thanks all!

Duncan

Dunc. If you enjoyed "the amateur poacher" then try "The Gamekeeper at home" by the same author, you will love it!

If you are really still a boy at heart, and have adventure running through your veins, then read "Bevis, the story of a boy" also by Richard Jeffries. It is a little bit swallows and amazons, but much better, and for me each time I read it, I am living the dream and reflecting on my own childhood, which was in so many ways, similar.

Thanks Tegater, I'll seek em out!

Sounds like we had slightly similar childhoods - I think I was semi-feral as a kid!

Just wasted a couple of minutes looking for your 'like' button, but you're a mod now and apparently no-one 'likes' mods
