BIG G wheton machine 1,594
frank bruno should have went into body building and stayed away from boxing as he didnt have the killer instinct in him where if he had i think we wuda seen a different beast of a bruno
gnasher16 30,121
frank bruno should have went into body building and stayed away from boxing As a boxer he won everything there was to win in the sport from an aba title to the world heavyweight crown and made himself a multi millionaire ! As a bodybuilder he wouldnt even of won an area title or earned 10 bob from it....... He wasnt the greatest no as he simply wasnt a fighter in his heart......but he had enough power, ability and determination to succeed to reach the pinnacle of his sport.......for me that is to be admired not mocked.
the_stig 6,614
i think everyone including big frank knew his limitatations --he made a good living out the game and put a smile on peoples faces ...could have been a whole differant story if that punch had taken tyson out ... ... for a few years he generated an interest in the heavyweight scene for british fight fans ... With the physique he had wilst boxing,, he wouldn't have won owt stood on a stage,,,,, however fully immersed in bodbuilding he may have done well.....that said why the feck would he won't to,, there's no where near the money in bodbuilding to what he must have earned Edited December 12, 2012 by TOMO
BIG G wheton machine 1,594
i like bruno dont get me wrong but i feel he was too easily intimidated before he entered the ring and i bet if ya ask him was a few mil worth the life he ended up with i wonder what he would say???? boxing broke bruno mentally the poor cnuts boiler busted and he fcuked his world up. just hope the fella gets himself in order he should just take nothing more to do with boxing and get himself a job he gets pleasure and fulfilment and most of all inner peace
stealthy1 3,964
I think the only thing that went against Bruno was his footwork, he always got caught while flat footed, even Tyson said Frank had the hardest body punches of any apponent he had fought. He lost against Tyson and maybe a little there, but in the rest of hes 45 fights? dont think so some how. Have you ever had the pleasure in meeting the big man himself? Well if you did im sure you wouldnt be saying hes easily intimidated. TUFFTY

TUFFTY how da feck was he not fcuk me look at him in the ring at the start of his fights he looked like a petrified kitten his eye were huge and he wasnt a little against tyson because tyson had him beaten before he even left his changing room now i dont doubt him and know what he achieved but boxing fcuked him up he endd up like joe lewis did but id like to see him getting himself off the happy pills and in a beter state of mind than he is. and he was intimidated by lewis too the guy had no self belief

gnasher16 30,121
Saying Frank was petrified is just being silly................no man reaches the pinnacle of the boxing game through being petrified of other men !..............Frank was scared of no man in a physical fight......scared of the occasion, scared of letting people down, maybe. Sometimes when your backs against the wall the natural fight in you has to come out......Frank was not a natural fighting man hence when his back was against the wall he usually came apart................he couldnt swap it out in a slugfest it wasnt in him......and he knew that. arcticgun 4,548
I dont think that the problems Bruno faced health wise after his career was over are anything to do with his time in the ring, iirc he had some sort of mental health issues/breakdown? maybe leaving the game and the anti climax of 'normal' life got too him or the stress of a failing marriage, shit like that can happen to anyman, I was never his biggest fan and the first to laugh at him when I was younger but when ya look back he got in the ring with a few tidy sorts over the years, lost some , won some, but ya dont get that belt and worldtitle gifted,so maybe he did look a little 'scared' before Tyson fight, but back then Tyson was the best around and was a vicious fighter, awkward maybe for the taller men, just a proper handful, he had a right to be wary only a fool wouldn't be, give credit where its due imho
